Amma. Ma. Mother

It’s strange that the one person whom we cherished the most

Became a stranger as we grow up.

It’s strange that the one who was our first best friend

Became a stranger as we grow up.

It’s strange that the one who held us for the first time & made us realize the sense of touch

Became a stranger as we grow up.

It’s strange that the one who taught us love

Became a stranger as we grow up.

It’s strange that the one who held our hand for the first time

Became a stranger as we grow up.

It’s strange that the one who fed us our first morsel of food

Became a stranger as we grow up.

Bond was broken, love was lost.

“She never grew with us ” is the sole reason we came up with to push her away.

Let’s accept the fact.

If she grew along with us, the only love and care you’d get would’ve been that of a maid or nanny.

She chose to be where she is so that she could see you grow and shine

She hid her tears behind the drapes so that you could smile

She cleaned & cooked for you so that you don't have to

She is not bored with monotony because she has accepted the realities of life.

Her love for you never faded because you were the whole world for her.

She chose to be confined to the four walls because you were too scared of the outside world.

She has more clarity and stability than you and that’s why she’s made peace with herself.

And then the day came when you no longer feared the external world.

You blamed and branded her as “Homely”

She served you eternally and all she expected in return was pure love. And you denied that.

Still wondering who we are talking about?

Yes, you guessed it right, “MOTHER”.

If there’s anything more pure than sandalwood and God’s grace it is mother’s love.

You can buy anything in the world, but you can never never buy your mother's love.

Cherish it when you have it, not once a year or once a month but every time you see her! For once it’s gone the only way you can experience it again is if you are born again as a HUMAN.

Even I was oblivious to many things about my mother for a long long time.

Many times, unconditional love is ignored and we get attached to things that mean nothing. We end up searching for water in a DRY well when there’s a goddess right in front of us ready to shower endless love on us.

The one who hasn't understood mother’s love will never understand a wife’s love

The one who hasn't understood wife’s love will never understand a daughter’s love

The one who hasn't understood daughter’s love will never understand universal love

The one who hasn't understood universal love is no longer a human.

We Indians are born with a superpower and that super power is “Mother”.

Cherish and nourish it.

After all these years of blindness, I now sit & talk to her. Share all my insights of things (though she won't agree to most of them).

I answer things from her perspective.

I think from her perspective.

I have made peace with disagreements.

I have grown down to become her “child”.

I decided last year to start this ritual of taking her on a long temple tour on her birthday and its year 2 now. Along with this I take another 15 days off the other part of the year to show her around. In the love of wanting to provide everything most mother’s sacrifice their own wishes, desires and identity. But we as kids need to rekindle it.

All mother’s experience loneliness as we kids grow and it’s our responsibility (RATHER BIRTHRIGHT) to take care of our Goddess who gave birth to us.

It’s her birthday today and I thank her from the bottom of my heart for lending her womb for my birth and raising me for I can now share this light of wisdom to the whole world.

I hope this influenced you in some sense, if not kindled a spark in you.

If yes , Go and give her a hug ! Share the words before it’s too late.
